Lanny Orr began his medical career as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, proudly serving alongside the Marines as their trusted "Doc." Following his military service, he earned his nursing degree and spent several years as an emergency department nurse before joining Billings Clinic MedFlight as a flight nurse. Today, he serves as the Trauma Program Manager at Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
As Trauma Program Manager, Lanny has played a pivotal role in advancing the Billings Clinic trauma program to national recognition. After more than 30 years as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Level II Trauma Center, Billings Clinic achieved ACS Level I Trauma Center verification in 2023, and re-verification in 2026; becoming the first hospital in Montana to earn this distinction.
A dedicated leader in trauma systems development, Lanny is actively involved in local, regional, and statewide trauma initiatives. He serves as Treasurer and Secretary of the Eastern Regional Trauma Advisory Committee and is a Governor-appointed member of the Montana State Trauma Care Committee, where he helps shape trauma care policy and system improvement across the state.
Outside of work, Lanny and his wife enjoy spending time with their son, chasing him from one sporting event to the next.
