About me
Dr. McKenzie is a Montana native who grew up in Billings and earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Rocky Mountain College. He received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed his residency training in general and trauma surgery at Michigan State University. Before joining St. Vincent Healthcare as a general surgeon in 2008, Dr. McKenzie worked both as a patient care technician in the emergency department and as an EMT, experiences that grounded his career in frontline trauma care and systems-based practice. Dr. McKenzie currently serves as the Trauma Medical Director for St. Vincent Regional Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center. He is an active member of the Montana Committee on Trauma within the State Trauma Care Committee and serves as the American College of Surgeons representative for the state of Montana. In these roles, he is deeply involved in trauma center designation, verification preparation, and performance improvement, regularly reviewing trauma programs across the state. Dr. McKenzie is a committed advocate for strong trauma systems and continuous quality improvement and speaks frequently at trauma-focused conferences both statewide and nationally.
